I wish this guy would call more often, as he's great fun to mess with. Told me I had a virus on my computer (to which I responded with a gasp and "oh no!"). Upon asking him how to fix it, he asked if I was in front of my computer right now. But when I asked him which computer, he asked me to repeat my question. When I explained that I have 5 in this room I'm in, he acted incredulous (I assume he was probably in a part of the world where that's a bit of a rarity), and proceeded to ask "all of them running Windows?" I responded "no, none of them are". At this point, that he bothered continuing on was pure gold, because he then wildly guessed "Mac?" (as if I'm to believe that this guy knows I have malware despite being unable to determine what operating system I'm using...). When I answered that they're all running Linux, he said "oh, umm..." and then hung up on me.
Considering how droll my phone calls usually are (always someone telling me what to do, when to do it, or asking me for information), this was an absolute breath of fresh air, and finally gave me something to feel like paying the phone bill in the first place is worth it. Kudos to terrible social engineers for keeping life interesting.
Oh, and if by chance the folks at this operation stumble upon this, I'd suggest you check out Kevin Mitnick's book "Art of Deception". You might learn a thing or two.
